This is good and timely for me. I'd add to #4 (sharing the vision) and say tough times call for "over communication." The tendency when times are tough is to close the door, pull the manhole cover over, be secretive about things that are happening or not happening. I think that open, honest, transparent and more frequent communication is another big key to leading your team through tough times.

Great post and thanks for letting Michael share. These stores are great and among the ones that not many people know about. Wooden is one of a kind and someone who I strive to be more like. Although his accomplishments as a athlete and coach will never be matched, it was who he was as a person that was more impressive. I wrote a blog about him this weekend and also complied over 50 of his quotes, maxims, and "Woodenisms."One of his best quotes:
“I have always tried to make it clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live. There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Savior.”
John Wooden is one of the greatest leaders of our time. www.colinfaulknerblog.com

No doubt. Me too. Who could they get to play him?

That's a good question. In this case (KenTacoHut) I couldn't find evidence that this was not good for their business (i.e.; stores closing, etc.). Yum! numbers are very strong thanks in large part to their expansion into Asia. Are there other brands like this you can think of or find evidence that they don't work?

He's great and I too like the hockey birth dates part of Outliers. Thanks for reading. I'm sure you'll see Covey and Maxwell referenced soon.
