I'm astonished to learn that there were TWO films called "Saving Private Ryan". I'm pretty sure the one I saw was the original, so there must have been a re-make.

Because I didn't find it particularly patriotic or uplifting, and I certainly didn't "embrace" it. It seemed to portray the American troops as saps, dying for a dubious cause.

14 years ago @ Big Hollywood - If Steve Schmidt is the jackass who prompted McCain to suspend his campaign during the economic "crisis", he's got an awful lot to answer for. McCain was leading in the polls until he pulled that silly stunt.

Schmidt may be to blame for all the destruction the Obama presidency has wreaked on our economy, the lives of our citizens, the rule of law in this country and our political and military standing around the world.

I'm not claiming McCain would have been one of our four best Presidents--heck, he might not have been one of our forty best--but he would have been a heck of a lot better than what we've got.

I'm normally a fan of Ms. Bullock, but someone should take her aside and point out that regular viewers of "The O'Reilly Factor" probably made up a substantial percentage of the people who paid to see "The Blind Side", and maybe bought the DVD later.

Geez, Toto...Nikki Finke found more anti-conservatism in the telecast than you did, and I doubt she voted for McCain.

She figured the red-state audience tuned completely out long before the Best Picture announcement.

I'm guessing you don't know any Mormons. You certainly don't know anything about the Mormon faith.

I know a non-Mormon father who couldn't take it when his teenaged son "came out", and threw the boy out of the house. Who took him in, and raised him like a son? His father's Mormon brother.

Mormons strongly oppose same-sex marriage and other aspects of the radical gay agenda that create special treatment for gays and lesbians. But they are perfectly tolerant of gays as individual people.

Your ignorance and religious bigotry are appalling.

I'm not a huge fan of Cohen, but if he did go to the Oscars he'd probably be the funniest thing there.

What a pity. My dad worked with this guy when he was just starting out. I always thought well of him.

And if my dad were still with us, Billy's jokes would offend him greatly.
