I stopped donating to HSUS when they ran ads against eating meat. I thought the money went to help pets not campaigning against ranchers.

They got tired of me and gave-in. We live in a small town and angry voters aren't good for library budget.

A little history. In the 90"s my Mom asked me to acquire a book by Bill O'Reilly. I had no idea who he was but I trotted off to Border's to purchase the book. None to be found although the computer showed one copy in the store. So I looked around. I found the dog-eared copy in the computer manual section. I proceeded to go to Amazon and buy my own copy. After reading it, I donated to our library. I had to demand that it be put on shelves. It disappeared. This became a pattern on my donated books until I complained and more and more conservative authors appeared in the library. I still donate but not as often.

I then discovered that conservative authors could not be published by the prestiges publishers. Only a little company by the name of Regency was willing to publish them. So I started my campaign of buying every conservative book I could find and donating it to the library. I love it that now publishers are solicitating conservative authors and I'm not obligated to buy them all.
