I hope he is the guy because the administration believes him to be the guy, not because the chatteratii was pushing him. Don't get much news here in Virginia beyond Daily Camera & Denver Post columnists & been reading a lot about this guy from them. (Same as with Butch Jones.)

Go Buffs!

Somebody needs to give the CU admin a couple of antiseptic wipes to clean all the "spirit" Butch Jones left on their faces. Takes the Tenn job 12 hours after saying nothing to CU?
Sucks to be used like that.
The president needs to call Gordon Gee and ask him for his notes on "how to look the other way"
Bohn needs to hire SOMEBODY with credentials, tomorrow.
Alums need to start writing checks with lots of zeros after a number and before the decimal point.
I thought the team/university was a laughingstock during the season, but this is just pathetic.

Glad the basketball team is finally doing well.

BEAT KANSAS!

What's with the "no pictures" posture?
You are a D1 head football coach, & applying to be the highest paid public employee in the state of Colorado & you are going to act like Alec Baldwin v. paparazzi?

You sure you want this guy?

We've seen this play out for more than 6 years in a row.
It doesn't matter who the coach is, it starts with the administration.
That's been the only constant from the Barnett meltdown through the Howkins mediocrity to the Embree implosion.
There's a reason Ohio State football became relevant again (& ethically dodgy) and that's Gordon Gee.
Remember him?
Until CU gets a president willing to turn a blind eye, or at least one who will stop the delusions-of-grandeur, AND is able to convince the state to end its SIGNIFICANTLY DEBILITATING LACK OF SUPPORT, this is the new normal.
We're a slightly better-than-average public university that gets so many applications not because of its academic programs, but because of its setting & its party reputation. Oregon wasn't relevant for DECADES for the same reasons until "Uncle Phil" Knight ponied up how many millions?
Stop the elitist-posturing
Fund the athletic department to competitive levels
Then the kids will come
Then the coaches can coach
No infrastructure, no competition.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Coach E.'s comments are the 3rd alternate definition of "throwing under the bus" in the idiom dictionary?

Hey! Pampered, elite high school talent! Come to CU & have the coach say "you suck" in the papers every year when you don't perform!

I'm all for keeping players accountable & calling into question their competitive drives when necessary; but in the press? That should be kept behind closed doors.

In any event, best of luck boys.

In the 20th Century, you got good football teams by removing academic standards for athletic talent.
(wasn't Embree the player who said, "we got enough choirboys, we need some football players!"?)
In the 21st century, you additionally have to pour money into the athletic department.
Will the CU equivalent of T Boone Pickens please step forward?
this sucks.

From The AP:

"The school [U. of Minn] opened TCF Bank Stadium in 2009, but the student section has been half full for many of the games as confidence in Brewster waned.
That, as much as anything, prompted Maturi to make the move now rather than wait until the end of the season."

c'mon now, give these Baylor folks some credit.
When was the LAST time a CU student-athlete killed one of his teammates & the coach tried to conspire the rest of the team to cover it up?
(Rae Carruth was a pro in Carolina--so that doesn't count)

They TOTALLY have CU beat in that scoreboard.

Ease up on the kid.
It is obvious he is calling himself out with the quote.

Equally obvious, the team has shallow faith in their own abilities.
If there is any mojo for CU's patience with Hawkins, hopefully there will be some choice coaching candidates available come December.
