It can break down into smaller pieces, but it never goes away. If you have a method or know of a way to make plastic disappear, please share with us!

I am well aware that plastic bags aren't the only contributors to man made pollution in our ecosystem. At this point we don't have a solution for replacing all plastic applications with something more eco-friendly, therefore we cannot ban all things plastic. We do on the other hand, have solutions or substitutes for plastic grocery bags. That is one of many reasons plastic bags have become the area of focus.

Change is never easy or fun, and I understand why people are upset. No doubt, it's going to be an inconvenience. When it comes to reducing our impact on our environment, this is a step in the right direction. There has to be a starting point right?

I am the founder of a nonprofit organization that cleans garbage out of our rivers, lakes, parks and city streets. First hand, I can say for certain that plastic bags are one of the most common and harmful articles of litter we encounter.

A large percentage of the plastic bags distributed are not properly disposed of (recycled), and they find their way in to our ecosystem, and never go away. Plastic is FOREVER. Plastic doesn't biodegrade. We throw plastic away, and never think about it again, but it will remain on this earth forever.

What's wrong with reusable bags? It might be a little more work for us, but in the end it's totally worth it. If you don't feel it's worth it, then please google "GREAT PACIFIC GARBAGE PATCHES" That should change your mind..... At least I hope it would. We need to stop being selfish and realize that we are plotting the future for our children, grand children and so on.

That's unfortunate, although it's great to see they made it out okay! Hopefully they recover financially and don't have any long term effects from this.

He will get caught, no doubt about it. It's not a matter of if, it's when. I just hope it's soon!

I have personally witnessed several of my coworkers go to the methadone clinic every day (for years). I'm sorry, but it doesn't take four years to "wean" off of heroin. None of these people seek help outside of methadone, like NA, rehab, or even try to associate themselves with a different crowd. They continue to use other drugs, sometimes sell the methadone to others for profit, and even find ways to alter the methadone or mix it with other drugs.

I'm not saying this is the case for every recovering heroin addict, but it seems to be the case with every heroin addict that I've met.

I hope they find another way!

This is awful! I hate these kinds of stories. Leaving it on the shore for three more days is a bad idea, in my opinion. There must be a way for us to handle this more quickly, and safely.

This is a absolute shame. I really hope no one gets hurt or killed. My best wishes too all!
