Thanks Shivamarrora. I upgraded to 5.1.1 as I didn't want to lose add free YouTube or Google Maps (That you lose on 6.0 and higher).
So my 3GS is upgraded and unlocked. All is well.

Thanks

Sorry DevTeam, it's been a while since I've Jailbroken/upgraded my IOS on my iPhone 3GS.

I have a jailbroken/unlocked 3GS with 4.2.1 an BB 05.11.07 I would like to upgrade to 6.1 or higher, but not sure what will happen e.g. do I lose You Tube and Google Maps? Do I need a custom IPSW? Sorry, it's been a while and not clear on how to do it. Thanks

Thanks. I need 4.2.1 on my i-Pad so I can sign up my 3GS i-Phone for "Find my i-Phone". Apparently Apple doesn't let you sign up any of the older devices (3GS) unless you have a new device. I'm amazed at Apple's logic on that one.

i-Pad Question: If I update my i-Pad to 4.2.1 via itunes, does it update to a baseband that will prevent me from jailbreaking later on?

After Jailbreak: Restore old settings or set up as a new phone in iTunes?

I'm surprised that with all the questions being asked on this blog, someone hasn't developed a decision tree diagram for all the different scenarios. Seems to me there would be a whole lot less of the same questions being asked here if we could all reference a decision tree. I'd make the decision tree myself, but I'm a jailbreak idiot.

"iphone could not be restored (1600)"
iPhone 3GS with 3.12 and I'm trying to upgrade to 4.2.1. I made the custom IPSW using Pwnage Tool 4.2.
I put the phone in DFU Mode and restored with ITunes. However, I get the following error message in iTunes "iphone could not be restored (1600)"

Any help would be apprecitaed.

Confused:
I have a friend who asked if I can jailbreak his new iPhone4 (He mistakenly thinks I know what I'm doing).
He has the iPhone4
Model: MC603DN
Version: 4.2.1 (8C148)
Modem Firmware: 03.10.01
Can I jailbreak and unlock?

Thanks
