I am a long time die hard Mets fan. I was at Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS, unfortunately, and have season tickets for Citi Field.

i definitely agree with the argument that there shud b some sort of a symbolism of passing on the torch to the new era, but there is also an argument that can be made that citi field should open up the same way shea stadium closed, with seaver pitching to piazza.

the way it worked out that the 2 possibly greatest players in mets history are a pitcher and a catcher is just a tough thing for them to forget about wen deciding upon who should throw/catch the first pitch

very very good idea, i think the only thing preventing them from doing that is the fact that piazza is actually a catcher, while wright is a 3B, and nobody wants Schnieder catching the first pitch.
