I still haven't been to able to find this actual posting on the VA website. I guess I will wait and deal with it when the time comes.
Never I found it. http://www1.va.gov/opa/pressrel/pressrelease.cfm?id=1845
Sounds like a good idea, but I cannot even find the original letter on the gi bill website they got this from.
Again, they were supposed to take it out of our future monthly benefits. We were not supposed to be paying anything they back, they were supposed to withhold from FUTURE MONTHLY BENEFIT AMOUNTS. They didn't do it. End of story.
Oh yea. Budgeting without a job while going to school is cake you are right lol. I guess you forgot we are in a recession, and the hiring right now isn't happening much. They were supposed to take it out of the future monthly benefits and they should have done that. Don't believe all the hype about the unemployment percentage going down either because it isn't. The majority of people that were on unemployment just ran out of funds and didn't find jobs.
You actually got to be put on hold? Shoot every time I ever called the recording said all representatives are busy at this time call back at another time.
It wasn't a loan. It was an advancement to be paid back from our future monthly benefits. It is there fault for not taking the money out like they were supposed to. Many people took the advancement because they had not been paid in months. Bills don't pay themselves. I tried my best to hold onto the extra money in case something like this happened, but when you don't have a job there isn't much of an option.
Well lets put it this way if they said it will take 8-12 weeks.....expect 12 weeks or more.
Great. I only took the stupid advancement because I went months without pay or even having a clue when I would get paid. What little money I had left over from my college courses I just used to start an apprenticeship, which the VA will not pay for until I finish the first 6 months of class and then I will get picked up by a contractor to be an apprentice. They told me I had to be employed in the field I am studying while I am in the classes to get benefits for the first 6 months. If I already had a job in that field would I be going into an apprenticeship? I think not because I would already be working for someone as an apprentice lol.
