Yeah, I hear you. The database thing is a bit hardcore for me, but it sounds like he lives inside Lotus Notes. So I guess, for him, having everything in a Notes db makes sense.

Hi Henrik, you definitely can use FineReader with the 300M. Actually, according to Fujitsu's website, they have a free rebate for IRIS Readiris OCR software if you buy before March 31 (http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fcpa/scanne... so that might solve your problem right there.

Anyways, the S300M is the ScanSnap I have and I like it a lot.  If you do choose to buy it, you are more than welcome to buy it using the link on this site so that I get a beer out of it, but that is certainly not required. :)

If creating searchable PDFs is a priority for you,I recommend getting the S1500M. The 300M does not come with OCR software integrated, unfortunately, whereas the S1500M comes with ABBYY Finereader and Acrobat 8.

I am not sure that I would wait for the S1300 as even @ScanSnapIT has said on Twitter "the ScanSnap S1300 is only available in the Japanese market. We don’t have information on its capabilities right now". So who knows when it will be available outside of NA.

Hi Randall,

I was able to get the ScanSnap S300 working in VirtualBox on the Mac. Check the post here:http://www.documentsnap.com/using-a-windows-scans... . Haven't tried the fi-5110EOX specifically, but it might be worth a shot?

Also, try some of the links here:http://www.documentsnap.com/how-to-use-a-windows-...
