I love using StumbleUpon. The pictures I've discovered using SU are very entertaining and fun.

You can also stumble through websites like Wikipedia, Wired or Huffington Post and discover new cool stuff aligning to your interests. You need to use it for a while and slowly you would realize its a really cool way of discovering awesome new stuff on the web.

Team Viewer is another awesome software for conferencing. But, I really like Skype and I would definitely give Screen Sharing a try, sounds like a lot of fun.
