You'll especially like turning on the TV to relax, only to see numerous commercials full of stereotypical weak gay men. Don't go cheap on the house paint either. You'll spend a fair amount of time cleaning off eggs and grapefruit, thrown by bigoted neighbor kids. Have fun at the workplace as well. Your coworkers will ask you all kinds of questions about your personal life. How you respond may have a big impact on your future employment, promotions and raises.
Gay Bothell guy here. Just call me old fashioned, but this is getting weird. Comic book heros are supposed to fight bad guys, right wrongs and leap tall buildings in a single bound. I find the gayification of American icons disturbing. What's next, are we going to declare that Lady Liberty is a lesbian, or Santa Claus prefers men? Not sure what the angle is here, but it does come across as a botched attempt at "equality".

Seattle, as a gay man, I completely agree with you. If we keep portraying ourselves as either victimized babies, or outlandish freaks (Pride Parade), then we will continue to deal with discrimination and homophobia. A lot of people people are reacting to what they see in the media, and frequently it's shameful. Until we present a better image as a group, then this is what we will continue to face. Just my two cents...

Frankly, this is just starting to get stupid. Yesterday it was a story about a young girl tripped at school, and now today, a playground fight. This country is going down the dumper fast, and this is all KOMO can come up with? No wonder people don't watch the news anymore.
