And yet, they say the exact. same. thing. about. you.! All you've said here is that there are often two sides to an issue. Here's the originality medal. No doubt you're right, there are many on the left who parrot what they hear on talk radio and the news. No doubt I'm right, that there are many on the right who parrot what they hear on talk radio and the news. NOW we're REALLY getting somewhere...

When I said "your" argument. That's why I put it in quotes. Because I wasn't just talking about you, I was using it in the general sense. I wasn't correcting your grammar. And it's not an obscure reference; it has changed an entire economy in the Midwest.

And sure, Clarence dissenting on Gonzales v. Reich seems sound. I wasn't trying to say Roundup Ready crops were connected to the drug war. I am not a Clarence Thomas hater. He is a Supreme Court Justice, I have to trust his opinion if the system is going to work. That's the crux of this whole argument... whether or not you believe the system should work, or should work for YOU.

Again, "You" in the general sense.

Well.... they were pretty mean to McCain, too, and I just told you I was going to vote him, didn't I? It's not a sex issue, either. I can't say I'd NEVER vote for a conservative woman. It would come down to her actions in public, whether or not I found them agreeable, and the values she represented. I don't like the values Palin represents. If she stood for reason and compromise, equality, and finding a middle ground with the other side to move our country forward, I'd (yes, even at this point) reconsider my opinion. But that's not what she says. When Palin gives a speech it is a mud-flinging, blame-throwing, gut-thinking extravaganza. Now, how much of that is backlash, since she has obviously been a huge target in the media (and many times unfairly, sure), I don't know. But, I would just point out that Obama gets called a Muslim Marxist on a daily basis (please, someone PLEASE explain to me in what universe those two things are compatible), and his entire presidency has been an exercise of reaching across the aisle and compromising with Republicans. I don't trust him any more than any other US Politician, but you can't say he doesn't make that effort.

Well, no... I don't think she should be disqualified. She should be able to run. I just think it is a huge red flag, and that more people should be discouraged from voting for her because of it. I don't usually say that in such a mild manner. But that is the heart of what I mean. If you were a managing a football team, who would you rather pick: someone who had never quit, or the guy who quit last year, mid-season?

As for her kids: again, it's not media distortion that has convinced me of this, it's her own words, as well as (let's be fair) Bristol's campaign-serving rise as a public person. She has a memoir out now about her experience with the campaign, her romance with Johnston (tiptoeing the line between slander, I might add, and I can't stand Levi Johnston), and her life as a young mother. If none of this had ever happened and if we had never seen Bristol, her kid, in the pro-life movement or in PSAs, I wouldn't be able to level this charge. Everything a political family does is political. Even charity should be suspect. And that applies to all of them, not just the party we don't like.

Yeah, but... it's her own words that have condemned her to me. It's not "gotcha" soundbites or hit pieces on MSNBC (I don't watch MSNBC). So, I have no doubt the woman is not the persona, that much of it is an act. What I'm saying is, the act poisons the well. And I don't like it. I think we all would be a lot better off - conservatives for having a better role model, and liberals for having a better object of criticism - if she had waited, and the public figure she became was a more experienced, more cultured, more credible person. That is my view.
