Hi L,

Thank you for your comment. I thought it would be better to create a post rather than write a long response as a comment so please see http://bipolar-blog.com/archives/317. If you would like to know anything else please let me know.

Jessica Grim - I am currently taking lithium and so far at 600 mg it is more effective for me than the 500mg of lamictal I was on for two years. And seroquel was a terrible drug for me - pretty much how you described and I was only on 100mg at bedtime for about a year.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your kind words and letting me know that your experience with Seroquel has been a positive one. I worry far more about my daughter than my own health, the only mood stabilizer I have been on is Sodium Valproate (2000mg) which I don't think really helps that much. I am amazed how laid back she has ben about her diagnosis, she takes her medication even though she knows that it leaves her feeling a bit forgetful, spaced out with dizzy spells. I just hope that these are temporary side effects and that her body will adjust to the edication soon.

Best Wishes
Mark

Thanks, hopefully it will do but ony time will tell. I will look into online tutoring but trying to motivate her to do the work may be a big obstacle to overcome!

Hi Barefootmeg,

I felt that your comment warranted a post of its own so I have written a short article with my thoughts. Hopefully others will also.
Good luck with your friend.

Thanks for your kind comments. We have had three phone calls from CAMHs today and my daughter now has an appointment with a psychiatrist on Monday. I will post an update after she has been seen.

I wish you the best of luck in your battle with depression, please don't give up on trying new medication which the mental health service may be able to prescribe. I am on my fifth different antidepresant and like you, I'm still trying to find the one which will help me in the long term - but I will keep trying different antidepresants and mood stabilizers until the right balance is found. If you are feeling severely depressed please do phone up your mental health team and ask for help!!
