As a Kennesaw resident myself, I can attest to what you're saying Mike. This is got to be the safest place I've ever resided. And like you, as of late I've had the feeling that this is just a big smokescreen to take away from the bigger issue of the debt ceiling.

And listening to the speech Obama gave today only confirmed my suspicions. Sure he brought up several different topics, but you could tell that the whole point of his tv appearance was to bully Republicans into increasing the debt limit.

As I listened I tried to imagine what would happen if I ran my own personal debt up to the max and then went back to my creditors and told them if you don't give me more money to pay my bills I'm going to make your lives miserable. Surely, they'd take me for a mad man and rightfully so!

Hi Kevin, this is a great post. I say that we take it upon ourselves as conservatives to bring the message to the people. Because as you've pointed out, waiting on the Republican platform to do it has proven far too costly. And after Boehner's theatrics it's apparent that they still don't get it.

Thanks for preserving and pushing the message onward!

Hi there IP! Cool, yes I do believe we've cross paths a few times before on Twitter. Let me try to clarify...the list I mentioned wasn't really meant to be all inclusive and we can remove or keep as many of the points listed as we'd like but we need to recognize that the more points we have the more unclear the message becomes and the more voters we're like to turn away.

See when it comes to marketing there's a tipping point that every brand reaches where once a brand means more than "x" things it almost ceases to be a recognizable brand. So the brand ends up meaning vastly different things to different people,

When this happens it becomes easy for the other party to re-brand republicans as, "they're gone put you back in chains" or what have you because most people don't understand what the party stands for exactly.

Hi Kirk, yes...My take is that what's happening right now is that you have two camps battling for whose going to own the narrative that is our national identity/culture.

You have those who want to take the nation away from the principles upon which it was founded - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and you have the side that wants to protect that foundation because doing so respects the unalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator on the other side.

Since it's a cultural battle there will be deep polarization. Thanks my take at least. What are your thoughts?

Exactly...Don't want to speak too soon though but it looks like the tide's beginning to turn! So times are definitely changin!

Yea, it seems like as soon as the media got a better grasp of the facts they tossed this story away like a hot potato.

But to be honest, who can really blame the media when the viewers take everything they say as the gospel and never ask any questions. After all a wise old news publisher once said, "News is what somebody somewhere wants to suppress; all the rest is advertising."

So I'm in agreement with you that we not only need ALL the facts. And to get them, we need to start asking ALL the questions.

As always, great post!

Great post, Kevin. What's really strange to me is how many of Obama's ads I've been seeing on tv compared to Romney's. It seems like even though he lost the small nickel and dime donations, that he must have still had a few big donors in his back pocket.

Whatever the case, he has certainly lost my support. And I hope to wake as many folks up as possible between now and Nov 6!

Keep on telling it like it is, Kevin! This is a rousing piece if I ever saw one.

And thanks for pointing this out because you're right Mr. O has gotten really good at running up political favors debts that WE get the privilege of paying back.

What's worse is how he has this habit of taking credit for things he didn't do. Like saving General Motors, when it was actually George Bush who wrote that check.

Heck, I was listening to one of your online podcasts the other day and heard Mark R. saying that even O's recent DNC speech wasn't his but that it, in fact, was almost the exact same speech that Jimmy Carter gave at the DNC when he was trying to get re-elected.

So what it all boils down to is that the American people, myself included, have been duped by Mr. O. But like the saying goes it's not the falling down that gets you it's the not getting up part that does the damage. It's time to get back up people! Let's go!

Hi Kirk, just saw your comment. You're welcome.

My main goal in writing this wasn't necessarily to change peoples' minds as much as it was to just share my thoughts.

And if nothing else encourage my readers to confront the usual assumptions that we make about race and politics by challenging those notions.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
