I wonder whether of it's a case of so many of us being so clued about how these films are made (especially through DVD Special features and the Internet) that we are constantly at a risk of being drawn out of the films we watch. Back in the early 80's I don't think people were so aware of how things were done, and so a special effect was that much more enthralling and mysterious.

This isn't an anti-CGI rant, I'm all for the evolution of special effects, but we are possibly spoiled now by how much of an insight into films we have on a daily basis.In all honesty, when were you last scared by anything in cinema? Disturbed or unsettled maybe (like when watching Martyrs), but actually scared?

I actually remember watching the first Terminator, and finding the red eyed T-800 skeleton very scary, especially when it's dragging itself along desperately in the final scenes, in an attempt to kill Kyle and Sarah. Maybe T2 changed all that when it made Arnie the good guy?

In terms of the science of robots and how technology is evolving so fast, I think that the concept of a robot being self aware IS very scary, and with the right screenplay and director can still be done effectively.

I actually enjoyed Killshot for what it was. Some solid performances and fairly good thriller.

I also didn't mind Powder Blue, and seeing Biel's nude scenes in context actually changes the feel of the scene. It's still very hot though, even if her being a trashy stripper is a little unbelievable!

I really hope this film is great, but it sounds terrible so far. The original outline for the Ghostbusters Go To Hell film, which was originally set to be part 3, sounded like a bad idea. And from what I'm hearing so far this doesn't sound any better.

Still, maybe a half decent Ghostbusters film is better than none at all? And at least we get to hear that theme tune again. :)

Agreed, definitely the only one. Even if you don't like it, how can you claim it's terrible?

Very funny. I really enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall so I'm looking forward to this. I don't know why, but I assumed Jonah Hill was playing the same (infatuated fan) character as in the previous film, but obviously not from what we've seen here.

Agreed, looks very good indeed.

And yes, French horror is doing very well at the moment. Inside, Switchblade Romance and Martyrs are some of the most brilliant and polarizing horror films of recent years.
