I am with you 100%!

You wrote pretty much what I was going to.

I understand your perspective JATok, I've been there myself.

Counseling is traditionally based on psychology, which as you know, is based in the black and white of science. This very fact has delayed its wider spread use, though with the scientific studies proving its effectiveness, it is gaining ground. Also keep in mind that not every counselor is going to choose this method. Some are choosing to focus on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or Hypnotherapy, to name a couple, because that is the method that resonates with them. This is all good because it allows the patient to choose the method(s) that they feel the most drawn to in their quest for healing.

It is my personal hope that we will stop the vicious cycle of abuse for good, in the long run.

Unfortunately your story is all too common DMT, at least that is what I have found.

Surviving despite the scars is one thing, surviving without them affecting you would be even better.

I hope you are getting the help you need. If not, my original offer still stands.

I agree Gnushound, and I am hoping for the same things.

Self-blame is a big issue with sexual trauma. Helping them release that and helping them see and understand the truth should be the goal of anyone who works with victims.

This is something I wrote about on my blog some months ago because I wanted others to understand, at least intellectually, the impact sexual abuse has on the victim. So many have had this "just get over it" attitude; it doesn't help the victim when those around them react this way.

I agree that conventional counseling has failed in really helping permanently, but energy psychology has had great results, most specifically EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), which has been a proven success since the early 90s.

This is the method I use the most when working with our veterans, trauma victims (including sexual abuse), anxiety sufferers, etc. I trust this process so much that I guarantee my work whenever I use it.

I am so glad Penny has made the transition from victim to survivor, and that she is helping her daughter do the same. That is important. Nobody deserves to carry the scars of abuse around all their life.

To answer your question about touching teens and children yes. It has been written about at http://www.lewrockwell.com/anderson/anderson299.h...

"As reported by Reuters, parents are now demanding that the procedures be changed for children, after witnesses have described their children’s genitals being touched by men and women working for the TSA.

“I didn’t think it was going to be as horrible as he was describing,” one father noted after an agent told him what he was going to do to the child before conducting the full body search.

“At some point the terrorists have won.” the father added. The TSA says it is currently “reviewing” the procedure for children. Perhaps it should first review it’s policy on background checking its own employees, which by all accounts is woefully inadequate. " (source: http://my.auburnjournal.com/detail/165126.html)

It is so nice to read about the good that people do!

Actions like this often have a profound effect the recipient, especially when you are talking about one's survival.

We at Bearfoot Healing had the privilege of donating 60 pumpkin pies to our local food bank a couple of years ago. It felt so good to help those who wouldn't have had dessert for Thanksgiving.

Thank you for pointing out the other side of this VoicevReason.

So often we do things, both positive and negative, without realizing or understanding the full impact it will have on another. All it takes is to be more conscientious about our actions to change all that.

Thank you sahmof.

I am currently reading "Invisible Acts of Power" by Caroline Myss and it is about the little things we do for others that have a huge impact on them. It goes beyond the list you have written, but it is the same idea.
