The New Testament accurately describes a society with open homosexuality as a society that has become very self-centered (Romans 3--worshipping the creation [us] rather than the Creator [God]). Open homosexuality is not the cause, but it is a clear sign of dangerous decline into unsustainable self-worship. We are a very self-oriented bunch these days. If our country is founded on rights endowed by our Creator, then the further we remove ourselves from God the more the country is losing its foundation and we will join everyone else on the scrapheap of history.

Homosexuality IS a choice, even though to some people it may feel like they never had a choice. The blood of Jesus can set them free as it has many others (fact). We no longer live under the Old Testament law, but the point people miss is that those laws were given to God as guidelines so that we might live healthy, happy lives. Sexual sin (sex with someone else besides your opposite sex spouse) is just another sin to God (and already forgiven for those accepting Jesus), but the Apostle Paul says it's the worst sin because we sin against ourselves. Meaning sex is such a powerful experience--involving all parts of our being--that when it goes in the wrong direction it is very hard to stop or change course. God didn't give laws to stop people from having fun, and He's not psychotic where He would create people who would have no choice but to break His law. The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Geez, with the next 4 years of Orwellian horror ahead, I'll grab any good news I can take. Since we have no choice but to wait until the train flies off the first bend of the track, why not fix something that will actually bring a little pleasure? The BCS is a monopoly and so freakin' intractable and backwards that it will probably take an act of God to change it. The Pac-10 and the Big 10 will never give up their tenuous hold on their past glories (though USC is still decent), so I'll take whatever congress can come up with. Even with my beloved Gators poised to win 3 out of 4 championships I despise the BCS. If I was in Utah I'd be furious too.
