"Many liberals hear talk of national culture and shout 'Nativist!' first and ask questions later, if at all. They believe it is a sign of their patriotism that they hold fast to the idea that we are a 'nation of immigrants' - forgetting that we are also a nation of immigrants who willingly assimilated and became Americans.By its very name, it destroys one culture by breaking it into many. It's like throwing a baseball through a window in a house, fracturing it into many pieces. The window can no longer protect that house from rain, winds or snow. Additionally, with numerous cultures come multiple languages. Linguistic chaos equals unending tension. The writer, Kant, said, "The two great dividers are religion and language."bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon- all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons and Corsicans.". Europe provides a peek into our future. Their Muslim-British immigrants stand at odds with everything English. If you visit London, you will find two separate societies. The Muslim-French immigrants balk at everything French. The Muslim-Dutch backlash against everything in Holland. Ethiopian-Norwegians will not assimilate into Norway's culture. Will we as a nation survive this "Cultural Katrina"?

Suspect named in shooting of decorated soldier in San Bernardino

San Bernardino police have released the name of a man wanted in a shooting that critically wounded a Purple Heart recipient who was home on leave for Christmas.

Ruben Ray Jurado, 19, of San Bernardino shot the soldier, 22-year-old Christopher Sullivan, at a welcome-home party in Sullivan's honor Friday night, police said.

The shooting occurred after Sullivan's younger brother and Jurado began to argue about football and Jurado threw a punch, according to police. When Sullivan stepped in to help his brother, Jurado pulled out a handgun and fired three shots, police said.
