This one (BigisTheNewSmall) in particular I read because I feel "invested" in LifeChurch... its one of the churches I regularly pray for...
In particular it gives me a snapshot of how to pray for the leadership... and also a voice... to speak from the "virtual rooftops" what is whispered in my ear from the secret closet...
I enjoy seeing how God is answering prayer... and sometimes not in the way I expect...
Since I can't always get to know the leadership personally... I can peak... and rejoice, or passionately make my requests known this way...

I have never had a problem being me... my problem is that I don't really fit into a culture that accepts me being me...
I am bold, and blunt, but unless you know me personally, you wouldn't catch the compassion that Christ has filled my heart with... I would give you the shirt off my back, (and literally have)...try and ask me for it sometime....
I struggle with bonding with others, and with communication because I'm too blunt...and that can turn people off...
I think when God made me, he forgot to put in the part that cares about fitting in... I just can't see life that way(trying to fit in as opposed to just being me), and Lord knows I have tried to become more effective at it..to become more effective at bonding with others...
Sometimes its a blessing, and through me God helps others to break out of groupthink, and sometimes its a curse... can be lonely and isolated... I thank God for the gift of my wife and kids... I can be me, and they get me...

His job is to get people to do what they don't want to do naturally, to push them past what they think they are capable of and to train them to live out the maximum of their potential...
Stoops is a hard coach, and demanding of his people... but never does he allow anyone to talk bad about his team mates... and that is the way he sees it... team mates... not "his team"..
Whenever he has the opportunity, he doesn't speak about his own personal accomplishments, but the accomplishments of those who have surpassed the barriers of trials, and are living out their full potential...evidenced by thousands of interviews...
He is a great leader, and he doesn't have to say so... he is a great leader because of who he is...
His leadership is best exampled in that where football is concerned... he pours out everything to make everyone else look good... push through the adversity and live out their full potential... as a result, he also reaps the rewards...
15 years ago @ Big Is The New Small - Church Diversity Sucks! · 0 replies · +1 points
Very few people preach on the diversity of noses, or fingers, or the need for us to be diverse with them... because mostly everyone has them... they are all different, and well to be frank.. it just isn't an issue.. kind of like the color of our skin...but it seems we aren't ready to see it that way... until we are.. it is an issue...sadly
I think the fact that we make this an issue shows that we aren't ready for this to not be an issue yet...
I guess it might be heaven before this isn't an issue... but who knows... what silly creatures we are sometimes..
