I am a pet owner and I oppose the idea. The only individuals that will pay to license their pets are responsible pet owners - how do they plan on enforcing this? Oh I know since police officers have so much spare time now (since the city now uses red light cameras and speed cameras) this frees up a lot of the officers time so they can walk around the check out the collars of pets for their soon to be required tag.
I agree with the farmers - leave the land alone - it is being productive as is. Besides it seems like IA has enough rest stops - more so than a lot of other states I've driven through
If the officer was coming up behind her - how can she play the race card? She was being pulled over for having too dark of tinted windows - obviously the police officer couldn't see what sex or race the driver was. This lady should lose her job with the Iowa Lega Aid as well.
Under the current form of city government it seems to me that each member of the city council including the mayor are suppose to have equal voting power and yet it seems that Ron Corbett is acting as a full time mayor in a part-time position. He is putting himself above the rest. I don't trust him - we must remember that is has and always will be a full-time politician and shouldn't be trusted.
That hotel needs so much to bring it up to normal standards - I feel it would be a waste of my taxpayer money. I never recommend that hotel to anyone - what with trains going past there in the middle of the night and cars riding down 1st Ave with loud radios booming away - I say if we have extra money laying around lets use it first to do something with the areas where homes use to stand in the flooded out areas.
I say quit stalling and unload the building - otherwise those that are currently interested might lose interest and go elsewhere - then we will be stuck
I know one should laugh at how stupid the woman reacted but thankfully nothing serious happened while she was wasting valuable dispatcher time. I hope she gets in serious trouble for overreaction. I also think that they should seriously think about removing that boy from her residence - obviously she has a screw loose and she is causing him damage by parenting him the way she is. She is a very bad example.
Plese don't take this the wrong way but isn't he rather old? I mean how many years of employment will we get from him before he retires? Since hiring a new fire chief is a long and expense process hopefully we will get out money's worth from this.
Wasn't there an earlier case this year where a gentleman kept firing his attorney? Didn't the judge in that case just get fed up with this action and deny the request? If memory serves me correct the other gentleman had 7 attorneys by the time the judge said no more. Parrish is on his 10th.
I had to laugh out loud when I read your first paragraph about Connie Huber - I'm glad that someone else thinks like I do about her. How she ever got that position I don't know because a Human Resource Director she is not. Was the city desperate when they put her in that position? When she is finally called upon to do her job she openly admits that it is over her head and yet she is kept on. I suppose now we will have to hire someone to assist - I say while hiring someone to search for a new city manager have them look for a new HR Director as well - and this time get someone with true HR qualifications.
