Well, I consider myself a cynic but I guess I'm a lightweight. I'll hang onto the notion that there might be one or two (relatively) honest people in DC, as naive as that may be. Bob Graham, by the way, voted no on Iraq...

Yeah, I know it's the Washington Post. But I think it's important to read a few national newspapers, if one is to keep well informed.

PS: I understand that your words on Graham are an opinion. What I'd like to know is why you have that opinion?

If by "Perhaps!" you mean that perhaps the CIA is lying, then we're in agreement on something. Still haven't heard them reject Graham's words, still haven't heard them say a word about it at all. Methinks the CIA supervisor who compiled the erroneous (or deceitful?) briefing dates is in for a bit of hot water.

I don't know why Bush and Cheney wanted a war with Iraq so badly, but I don't think it was for our security. In fact, I think it made things worse by distracting us badly on our efforts in Afghanistan (just as "airhead" Graham thinks) and has made our situation worse in both theaters. Also was a recruiting boon for our enemies, and created a couple of new ones, to boot. (I know that's not original, but I feel it's true). So I call it a phoney war, although it's real enough. Maybe I should have said pointless, stupid, damaging war?

I didn't say there was a link. I said it's beginning to look like there is one. You seem intelligent enough to separate opinion from hard fact.

Why do you think Bob Graham is air headed? He seems to have a clearer idea of his day to day activities than the CIA does. We're still waiting for them to correct their appointment book.

Paragraphs 9, 10, and 11. I find it hard to believe that our primary intelligence gathering agency can't keep records as accurately as a Senator with a spiral notebook. Makes me wonder if they're the liars.

That's a bit better than the Star Trek remarks, but I still don't think I've made myself clear to you.

But, we seem to be in agreement on one thing...you haven't at all commented directly (or even indirectly) on what I've actually said.

At least I knew what Stan was talking about, even though I didn't see that it had much relevance to what I was saying.

I'll wait and see how this whole thing works out. I predict that Rush, Newt, and Boehner are going to be disappointed. At least the first two will make some bucks screaming about it.

Thank you. This was an interesting, stimulating back and forth.

Thank you for your second comment. But I feel silly arguing with another rewrite of my words.

"it's starting to look like they made it (torture) policy because they desparately needed justification for their phoney war". That's how it's starting to look to me, and I still stick to that.

I also said the only people who've been caught lying about this were CIA people, and they got exposed when they claimed former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Senator Bob Graham was breifed on torture twice...on days when he did not attend any briefings of any kind. I'm sure you read about that...any comment?

PS: If I thought they were torturing people to save American lives, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. I just question that being the real motive.

Thank you for your comment, but I didn't say anything about Bush or his team being stupid. Didn't say they "fooled Nancy and her gang", either. Try sticking to what I did actually say.

What I said was "it's starting to look like they made it (torture) policy because they desparately needed justification for their phoney war". I'll stick by that.

Why not waterboard the only people so far that have been caught lying about these phantom "breifings", the guys from the CIA? Former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Bob Graham caught them lying, and this lends credence to Speaker Pelosi's story. The Republican/Neocon/Post Bush Fan Club, and their elected idols like John Boehner scream about Boogeywoman Pelosi...they've been doing this since 2006, while the rest of the country has been productively moving forward.

Time to grow up, people, we're finding out the facts about why the Bush Administration was so keen on torture...it's starting to look like they made it policy because they desparately needed justification for their phoney war. Have a good day.
