Right now Apple wants to make it a violation of copyright to develop code to do this.
If the Dev Team makes money (even from donations) for this they could be fined huge amounts of money and spend jail time. We have seen this where sites that do nothing but host search engines for torrents have been pulled down and the owners sent to jail when they only had ads to cover bandwidth and site maintenance.
that having been said I do not think people should be asking for money they donated back. But I also feel it was wrong for certain members of the team to ask people for money to buy a 3G S with the intent to work on a jailbreak and then say they are not going to release it.

I am not sure I follow the logic here.
Apple will always release patches to fix any jail breaks you guys make. I appreciate all the hard work and effort you all put in, but this smells funny to me at this point.
Why release redsn0w? after all Apple can fix that, Why release Ultrasn0w, the can fix that.
I wonder if this post will even make it on the board...

I can say that the 3G S is extremely boring without the extras offered from a jailbroke phone :)
