I think I saw a reference to this in one of your replies, but it bears repeating...the parallels between this situation and the MacArthur/Truman conflict are fascinating.

If McChrystal had learned from MacArthur's mistakes, and Obama had learned from Truman's mistakes, this might never have happened.

If robust theological debate is your thing, than it is hard to beat the Pyromaniacs blog. For less dogmatic fare I thoroughly enjoy Abraham Piper's 22 Words.

Oh, and I heard #7 used as an actual sermon illustration. Unbelievable. As if what the Bible says about Hell is not scary enough, so we have to use made-up stories.

Awesome post! At the risk of sounding like #6, every Christian who has an e-mail account should read this.

Also, best line: "It was essentially the email equivalent of the officiating in the World Cup."

I saw this happen in a church I worked at once. Mothers day was a lovefest, and all mothers were placed on a pedestal right next to Mother Teresa, Joan of Arc, and the Virgin Mary.

Then came Fathers Day, and the special program was designed specifically to tell fathers just how badly they were screwing things up.

Not coincidentally, a few weeks later the pastor complained about the low attendance at the Fathers Day function.

Once I saw (in Florida, I think) an "Upper Room Baptist Church"--which wouldn't be such a big deal except that it was a one-story building.
