My first instinct is to see the Republicans as blue. I still to this day have to stop for a moment and remember that Republicans/conservatives now assigned the color red. I like you, understood why the change was made.

It's quite interesting how he begins this segment by quoting the first part of the 15th Amendment word for word, but most certainly always forgets the wording of the 2nd Amendment of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"

"The word, and action, of mercy does not solely apply to feeding the poor or "gifting" to others. It can be done by pardoning someone of a transgression." Quoting myself from above to which I gave a very small example of. I was not limiting my definition, I was responding to you: "Does the word "merciful" appear in your version of the Beatitudes? If it does, you can not be merciful, without being charitable."

I am of the belief that God's mercy (forgiveness/pardon) of our sins was necessary for every Christian to enter heaven, and that we are to (Ephesians 4:32) "forgive others as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you" and Matt 6:14 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."

I'm sorry you were offended by Rush's statement. I have enjoyed this talk with you as well. Good night.

I was agreeing with you in my first sentence. I was happy you said it. I was excited you said it. Regrettably, you couldn't hear my expressions of such excitement through the internet. I'm sorry.

My "version" of the Bible - King James Version - does have the word merciful in The beatitudes (Matt 5: 3-12), particularly v. 7: "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy". I do believe that a person can be merciful without being only one definition of the word charitable. The word, and action, of mercy does not solely apply to feeding the poor or "gifting" to others. It can be done by pardoning someone of a transgression. Am I greedy and unmerciful if I don't feed my neighbors child who happens to come over and rifles through my pantry because I have "better snacks than his mom buys"? No, but I can kindly ask him to put the item away, then be merciful and pardon his rudeness!

I continue to lack understanding of your use of the Sermon on the mount to make your argument of Rush's vocabulary - greed vs capitalism. I do agree with you about the word usage of his, as I stated in my last post. We, and him, need to stop defending "success" with their characterization of it as being "greed". It confuses too many people. It's quite unfortunate.

Yes, you can be a Christian AND be a capitalist without being greedy. We have many Scriptures that give examples of great wealth without the sinful nature. It can be done. Again, I'm holding to the idea that greed and charity are not part of the Sermon on the mount as it is written. The Seven Deadly Sins are the Catholic Church's explanation of the vices of the human sin nature, which means they are nothing more than symptoms to sin rather than the sins themselves. As far as a Biblical pronouncement of the Seven Deadly Sins, the 10 Commandments or Proverbs 6:16-21 "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethern. My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of they mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck." are about as close as you are going to get. Without following them, therefore being sinful, the symptom seen is understood to be greed. Greed is not the sin.
As far as Rush's usage of the word greed here, it would be more of drive and success rather than the perceived idea of a sinful nature. I think that with your last post you were more in line with that idea than you would like to admit.

I'm not clearly understanding your position using the Sermon on the mount. Although you are correct indeed, the Sermon on the Mount did not include greed; nor does it speak of charity (except that you are not to do it for the glory of men) and feeding the multitudes.
