StingRaye - what I am not seeing on the website are copies of the numerous letters written to government ministers and their replies, if any, or even their acknowledgement of receipt. If a citizen writes to a public official the least he can expect is an acknowledgement in writing and an indication that something will be done. Calling him to a meeting or a consultation which has no records, no minutes (or disputed minutes) is just not good enough.
T&T is spending billions of dollars on this project, persons are protesting but all of that action is ephemeral. No one can point a finger to exactly what was said, what was written by a government official, when a decision was taken or who took it I suppose that is good governance for you.

"the Debe to San Francique Action Committee of which Dr Roodal Moonilal was the Chairman.
They got assurances of support to stop the highway from leading politicians (Dr Tim Gopeesingh, Chandresh Sharma, Prakash Ramadhar and Kamla Persad Bissesar) "
StingRaye - I am willing to bet that not one of the persons you name who gave you these assurances ever put their signatures on a document. That is the way of politicians, only the spoken word which vanishes when it is convenient to forget.

I read the Express poll " Are you concerned that Dr. K could die" and the results were 41% Yes and 59% No. I see no reason why a similar poll about Mr. Maharaj would not yield the same results.
That is where the politics is taking us as a people - into insensitivity and callousness. A majority would not care whether he lived or died.

The question is, if no one had complained would TSTT have fixed it or were they just trying a thing hoping that no one would notice. TSTT needs to issue a public statement.

And that is the answer to the question I asked. It really has made things clearer.

Everyone agrees that there are serious issues still to be tried but what happens in the meantime while they are awaiting the Court to do that? The HRM wants an injunction to stop work along the disputed section of the proposed highway. Why has the Court not granted the injunction? Because it is said that HRM took too long to file its action. Were they supposed to file an action when the government signals its intention to do the work or when they actually start the work? Did the HRM commit unlawful acts in the manner of their protest when they felt that their elected representatives would not hear them as it proceeded to breach their constitutional rights?
These legal matters are a strange thing but one thing for sure they take a long time to resolve. I can well understand Dr. K's frustration.

So far not one of the most vociferous critics of Dr. K's action has been able to say what are the terms of the ransom he demands and whether his demand is unreasonable. I suspect you cannot answer either.

nation - I am taking bets that none of the persons posting stuff about Dr. K knows what he is protesting about. They are just mouthing the party line and talking points. Sad, because citizens owe it to each other in a democracy to listen before they talk and when they do, at least have some independent, informed opinion.

Several persons have said that Dr. Kublalsingh, one man, is trying to hold the government to ransom. However, no one has said what is the ransom being demanded by Dr. K.

The Good Lord works in mysterious ways. Mr. Minshall may be right and the prayers of the faithful could show the Prime Minister the way although that is not what she intended when she called upon the IRO to intervene.
This, together with the AG's statement about co-operating in a speedy approach to the Privy Council, is careful political planning to counter any negative fallout that may come her way later on. No one can say that she didn't try everything.
