Well said. In these times, it is important that all of us who share common values stand together despite theological differences to preserve the kinds of communities we want our children to grow up in and preserve an atmosphere where we can all worship freely without the encroaching hostility of modern secular society.

By the way, I tend to agree with you on Ron Paul. He's a Libertarian running as a Republican. It seems that many people don't understand that while conservatives and libertarians agree an many things, libertarians are not conservatives and vice-versa.

So far in all the primaries combined, Romney has 40% to 23% for Santorum and 21% for Gingrich which amounts to fairly solid support so far for Romney. I think what you say would be true if there were a viable alternative such as Gov. Daniels, Senator Demint, Gov. Jindal or even younger guys like Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio or Mike Lee, but Gingrich and Santorum are non-starters. I like both of these men and appreciate the contributions they've made to the country, but as presidential candidates, they have too many fatal flaws to list. In that sense they represent a threat to me because both would be a gift to Obama.
Romney is a good, if not great candidate. There are no skeletons, he's been well-vetted and some of the things he's said and done in the past that we conservatives take issue with, will probably help him with centrists in the general election. He has the experience and organizational/managerial skills to be a great President if he listens to the right voices and he's mostly been saying the right things for the past few years. Keep the focus on the economy and he'll win easily, but give Obama a chance to shift the conversation away to social issues or to a personality contest and you energize the democrat base and scare many moderates to the left.

Not when he starts out by attacking Romney for not supporting the automaker bailout.

Better than the Republican candidates all over the country trying to attack the Democrats over Fannie and Freddie with Gingrich as the nominee or going after union corruption with Santorum.

Get the hell off these boards you loser. You'd rather see your predictions vindicated than Obama lose.

I don't think a brokered convention is a realistic option. It won't happen, and even if it does, there really isn't anyone available who everybody's going to get excited and unified over that would be able to magically put together an organization in a few short weeks. We're much better off making do with what we have.
I'm concerned not so much about Romney Care as I am about some of the previous strong statements he's made in favor of abortion rights, gun control and a few other issues that make him look disengenuous. While I think he looks Presidential and inspires a certain amount of trust, he doesn't really connect on an emotional level. He is a flawed candidate.
On the other hand, he finished up his term as governor on mostly conservative notes and has mostly been saying the right things for the past few years. He looks good, is pretty articulate, genuinely decent I think and appeals to the center. I don't think there's any question he's a competent manager and has sort of a genius for organization. I'm not super excited about Romney, but I am excited about the beating Obama and having both houses of Congress.
Believe me when I tell you that they will only be able to make and issue of Romney's mormonism if we let them. Mormon's have been an important part of the American landscape for what, nearly 200 years now? If we all put our foot down with one voice and tell them to leave religion out of it, they will, but my fear is that there are some on our side who would like to see, as you say it "harm" come to Mormonism, even more than they would like to see Obama defeated.
