That's an excellent point about smoke detectors and CO2 detectors. It might also be wise to keep a smoke detector specifically in the kitchen but to only attach the battery shortly before Shabbos (to avoid false alarms when cooking).

Only a total loser or a moron replies to a post made 21 weeks ago. It seems as if you are both.

It is shameful that The Forward would post such an article that has so many obvious misstatements of fact. The JDL is not banned in Israel as a terrorist group. It is not banned in the US. The movie "Obsession" was not about a Muslim "plot" but what Islamists goal is for America. The Rabbi in Atlanta didn't claim all Muslims were a problem. The quote about, " “Koran-waving, Allah Akbar-howling..." was about 5% of Muslims. This article is a joke.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Do you believe a charity with differing political views than you is on the same level as the peeping Tom Rav who abused his position or a child molesting scum? There is a huge difference. The peeping Tom should go to prison and the child molester should never see the light of day again. Those who equate reporting on a charity with differing political views and peeping Toms and child molesting scum are in desperate need of a clue.

I feel sorry for you. You honestly seem to think that your reprehensible actions are acceptable.

Are you incapable of posting without adding an ad hominem attack? My point was obvious to anyone not in denial of reality. Kapos turned their fellow Jews into the authorities (or did the punishing themselves). Ginsberg turned the authorities on his fellow Jews. You seem to approve of doing that. Even though I would not donate to such groups, nor do I think they should qualify for the tax deduction, I would never act like a Kapo and turn the authorities on them. You obviously would. The Kapos were traitors and so it seems are you.

I'm not right wing. My ballot yesterday had three votes for Republicans and dozens for Democrats. I can't see myself ever donating to the charities mentioned here either. What I would not do though is to turn on them and use the authorities against my fellow Jews. That's what the Kapos did. It's unfortunate that you are too blind to see the truth. Heaven help us from Ginsberg and the fools who defend his abominable actions.

Was Ginsberg a Kapo in a previous lifetime?

It's the same rationale behind US foreign aid.

JJ, you wrote in just your second paragraph the following. "Yes, Israel annexed East Jerusalem years ago, but not a single country in the world has recognized it." JJ, once again you are wrong.

The United states implicitly recognized it when President Bush sent his letter to then Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in April of 2004. That letter stated in part, "In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli populations centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949, and all previous efforts to negotiate a two-state solution have reached the same conclusion." Both Houses of Congress overwhelmingly endorsed that letter.

The new housing is within the borders of the areas in which Israel has already built. Even Arafat recognized that such areas would not be turned over to the Palestinians. Why are you incapable of admitting to what even Arafat would?
