Avnery would be on sturdier grounds if he had condemned instead of endorsing the so-called "holocaust denial" laws in Israel and elsewhere. His comments are well written
and perceptive as far as he goes but he doesn't go far enough in his advocacy of free
speech.

The article is very well written. You must be totally dense not to fully comprehend it. The race is the Jewish race. Most of us Jews regard ourselves as a race or separate ethnic group, not per se as
a religion. My only beef with Avnery is his failure to condemn the vicious "holocaust denial" laws in
Israel and elsewhere. That stand undermines his thesis here.
