It's tough to beat the Camry and Avalon, but so far as cars actually built outside North America, I'd go with my 2007 Optima, built in Hwasung, South Korea. It's a big, boring car with floaty suspension and awesome cupholders. The only thing un-mericun about mine is that I snagged one of the exceedingly rare manual transmission models. Well, that and the fact that is has a cigarette lighter/ashtray. That's VERY Korean. Bonus points-this picture was taken at my work.

I always thought that was weird, too. It seems to me like it would make more sense to put the cranks up front and power in the back--that way the driver can still control all windows from his seat (if the car's not too wide, which an A-Class certainly is not). It would also have the benefit of being able to lock out the kids'/kidnapping victims' windows.

Consumers would probably look at it and go "hurr durr why are the power windows in back", but it makes sense, I tell you!

Back in high school, I was in a humanities class whose final project was to teach an old skill to the class. I chose to teach how to use a sextant, which actually is surprisingly easy. The hard part is knowing what to do with the information it provides you!

I still use a slide rule on a regular basis!

As for the general use type shown in the article, I have had an exceedingly difficult time trying to find one. All the ones I've found have been antiques (many were made from ivory), and were more than I was willing to spend just for the novelty of learning something new. I didn't know about the ThinkGeek one; I'll have to check that out.

Has the black car been called yet? To me, it looks like a 2012 Kia Sportage. I don't know why, that's just what struck me right off the bat.

My problem with them is that they force you to do detail work with your thumb, which is not the most dextrous of phalanges. That said, I do fine at XBox, but I can not manage to use a trackball right to save my life.

My car can be a bitch to get into first gear sometimes. Also, I'll regularly shut off my engine at stoplights that I know are going to be long. It would be nice to have a warning to start/engage gear. Those are 2 reasons I can think of, but I'm not sure if it would outweigh the disadvantages.
