America cannot do well in its second half by "coming together." That's what Detroit really tells us. Now, for a real uplifting commercial, check out "British Airways Advert 2011" on You Tube.

Intelligent foreigners watching the Super Bowl halftime show would marvel at how debased popular American culture really is.

Most American women have, with the advent of the baby boomer generation, chosen to compete with men, rather than complement them. But women, generally, do not want a level playing field. To that end, American women have gladly resorted to the force of the state to succeed. Check out affirmative action, quotas, Title IX, the ease with which women can get restraining orders, etc. This post is not a call for misogyny, however. At some point, the corrupt edifice all this liberation has erected must collapse; in the meantime, how can we expect women who thrive under such a system to raise their male children to be secure men. The short answer is, you can't.

Oliver Stone suggests we see Hitler, and, by extension, the Nazi era in Germany, in context. The objection, if I understand it, is that if we see Hitler in context, we will vilify him, and the Nazis, less. Well, maybe. I recall Chou En-Lai's response, when asked if he thought the French Revolution was a good thing: "It's too early to tell." I do applaud Mr. Stone's intellectual courage, but it may be too early to apply context to the Hitler / Stalin phenomena.
