I sent email to the White House requesting that President Obama use his links to the Islamic world to prevent this travesty of justice. I mentioned that President Obama should also defend the right of women NOT to wear Islamic dress.

I put the link to the Daily Mail story but not the link to JihadWatch. It probably won't pass their Islamophobic filter of that known Islamophobe Robert Spencer :) :)

tafsir explains how verse 34 originated. A woman came to Muhammed complaining that her husband slammed her face. She was looking for justice but right away the surah came down to Mohammed: Women are under the control of men. So she went away without punishment for her husband.

I hope I'm wrong but I smell major Stockholm syndrome. Plus a book deal on how Amanda found the religion of peace and how going to Somalia was the best thing that ever happened in her life (if she ever comes out of there alive). Looks like she liked to travel to dangerous places.
