Monthly rebate? It's a $15 one-time cost.
""Our goal is to have 833 people get an incentive in this new campaign," said DeBarros.
...
The organization is being funded through a $900,000 grant from various state and regional agencies."
That's $1000 per person. After spending the $15 for the HOV transponder, that leaves $885 per person.
What am I missing?

They can't cause fires, do not emit any CO2, and can be recharged using renewable energy sources.

Consider someone who purchased property with the understanding that short-term rentals weren't allowed.
Then, a neighbors begins short-term rentals.
We need to incorporate short-term rental rules in our zoning process, and include all the property owners in the decision to allow short-term rentals.

""Neighborhoods' Right to Vote on Land-Use Regulation Changes" would apply to requests for changes to height, density, occupancy limits, zoning, parking requirements and setbacks."

Sure, it's expensive. And it gets more expensive as the the density and build-out of Boulder continues, making it harder to allocate the land for bike paths.
Given the comments here, I would expect the Folsom "Experiment" to be eventually considered a failure.
With property values (and property taxes) increasing, we might have the budget to continue to build bike paths and underpasses.

Some might perceive the wider bike lanes and pylons to be safer, but I don't think so. The intersections are where bike accidents occur and this "experiment" has done nothing to improve this.
The first cyclist I encountered using the new Folsom bike lane was not wearing a helmet, holding a cell phone to her head, not looking ahead, weaving, and wearing flip flops (no foot protection in a crash...).
There's a lot she could do to improve her own safety but is apparently unaware of the risks she is taking.
My humble opinion: Build more dedicated bike paths and underpasses to eliminate bike/car accidents.

Maybe it's time to stop using gender-specific nouns when they aren't needed in conversation?
Is there any reason a barista needs address a customer as "Sir" or "Madam?"
Of course not, so why attempt to guess at gender for no purpose.
What was once considered polite may now be insulting.

Interesting that none of the cyclists in the photos accompanying this article are wearing helmets.
In my experience, many of the cyclists I see on Folsom are not wearing helmets. And, are often wearing headphones/earbuds, which also pose a safety risk.

"Helmet use has been estimated to reduce the odds of head injury by 50 percent, and the odds of head, face, or neck injury by 33 percent. 2"
Perhaps encouraging/enforcing helmet use would have a more significant impact on bicycle accident severity?
Maybe a bigger impact than increasing the bike lane width?

However, the ad didn't work for me. The ad doesn't convince me that corn is
produced by nice family farmers who have the health and well-being of their consumers in mind.
My impression of the corn industry continues:
- high-fructose corn syrup is not a healthy food product.
- what is the long-term impact of GMO corn? Will we be better off or not?
- corn to ethanol is dumb. The net energy benefit is negative
- most corn is used as grain to feed animals. To feed a growing global population, we would be better
off growing plants for food and eating them directly.
- US taxpayers subsidize the corn industry with no benefit to the taxpayer.
OK, you can click thumbs down now. :-)
