R. Student's essay borders on the comical. To say that their statement is a call for unity is akin to calling Ted Cruz a moderate peace maker.

Aside from the fact that his argument makes absolutely no sense. Would he, for the sake of unity with the Orthodox world, advocate that Yeshivah University should only give semicha to people who don't shave or trim their beards; stop saying the tefila le'shlom ha'medina; or, that that they should close down Gpats or Stern-for that matter?

It seems that R. Student is somehow embarrassed by his association with the Rothstein statement and therefore tries whatever way possible to offer alternative, revisionist interpretations. Debating issues is acceptable, publicly expelling a whole community from orthodoxy is reprehensible.
