Also worth noting that DNA was kicking the POV Gun idea around for well over a decade before the movie came out. Pretty much all of the new bits in the movie, including Humma Kavula and Vogsphere, and the slapsticks used to evolve the Vogons, were from Douglas's own movie drafts.

I'm really intrigued to read Toast readers' opinions of the POV Gun. I'm a guy who was very tangentially involved in the movie, and briefly worked with Douglas on web/game stuff, and that scene has always flummoxed me. Thank you so much for sharing them.
