I can only say, these doctors would have been a trifle baffled by several royal mistresses. Lady Castlemaine immediately comes to mind.

Quickening was when a public announcement of pregnancy would be made, too, eg when Anne of Austria was pregnant with the eventual Louis XIV.

I think only one of her children made it to double digits - Prince William, who died when he was 11.

I'd be wan and bitchy if I had to drape myself over knobbly tree roots *and pretend to enjoy it* like dude the first.

Worst jet lag for me: Melbourne-Auckland-LA. It wasn't so much the flight itself as getting slammed with my period while I slept on the plane (drenched pants despite super pad) and getting a cold as well, AND having to go to Yosemite the next morning in a car so badly packed it meant fitting myself around things for that long trip. Amazingly I felt almost human again after we got to our condo and I had copious cups of tea and cold pills. Plus, Yosemite!

Funny, for me it's about the same either way. I dislike the home trip to Australia because of losing the day I gain going to the US.
