Echoing doable! I have both lived in Manhattan with a bunch of roommates and lived in the North Bronx alone; I prefer the latter, but that is 100% a function of my temperament. Some people would rather the company and a shorter commute.

And keep in mind that depending on your circumstances, you don't necessarily have to commit to living here 100% forever! I moved here with the mindset of giving it a shot for a year or two and seeing how it went, and it went great and I am still here six years later. But even if I'd only stayed a couple, I saw some great shows and had some great experiences in that time.

I've used "Ms." exclusively since I was about 20, and had a friend sincerely confused because he thought it indicated that I'd somehow gotten divorced (and, presumably, married) without him noticing.

(Also, I was shocked that Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins weren't here, until I realized they'd be so far at the top of the list they are probably hovering somewhere over my monitor.)

I was slowly working through the nuts and bolts of a piece talking about Bobby from "Company" vs. Hoffmann in the Offenbach opera "Tales of Hoffmann." In hindsight, this may have been too weird even for The Toast.
