I actually had to do some investigating of what these books were about before I voted! Some have been added to my wishlist! *le sigh* Happy reading!

That sounds so cool! It reminds me of the movie The Holiday where Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz switch homes for the holidays! Imagine a website where you could switch bookshelves xD

I can't wait to hear what you, Millicent, & co. have come up with! I've just recently been getting back into writing (currently prepping for Camp NaNo in July) and I love this post! I've been thinking of describing my past stories in this type of format since about April and I think I'll do that now for sure! Love these posts about writing. Please do keep it up :)

I really liked this post! I think you make a really point when you specifically point out the books you wouldn't have been able to read if they were never translated. I always forget one of my all-time favorite books The Shadow of the Wind was translated because it is so fantastically written and there's no hint that it was originally written in Spanish (other than the setting of Barcelona, but lots of writers write stories set in countries where the major language is not their first language). Translations are important, but good translations especially deserve respect. This post has actually inspired me to take a look at all the books on my book shelf and see which ones are translations because it's just not something I've thought enough about. Thanks, Ely!

I just wrote my review of this book yesterday (it goes up tomorrow on my blog) and I felt exactly the same about everything pretty much! Especially how the book gets more interesting after she is sent away. My review was a lot more angry though :D Not angry about the book but about what happened to Cameron. I tried to keep my ranting to a minimum, but it was hard. LGBTQ history in the US is so messed up with regards to this kind of thing. I am glad to have read this book despite all my anger at it so thanks for introducing me to it. Great review! (:
