Don't we all wish we could just have post ideas on command! You're completely right that they usually come once we stop looking for them. The only other tip I can think of is to write things down, ALWAYS. That way there's no forgetting and it's also nice to have a list of past ideas on hand during those times when you really can't think of anything to write.

I definitely agree with you! Since endings are the last I'm going to hear of the story, I need them to fit the rest of the book. They don't have to wrap everything up, for me, but I need to feel satisfied and like I actually finished a book. I don't want to read a book and, at the end, think "so, what happened?" To me, that's the whole reason I was reading it in the first place!
