For me the last step is guilt at having let nice vegetable go to waste and shame and penance by not allowing myself to buy anymore nice fresh things for a while. The cycle does repeat, but there is a span of time first.
Photographs are not, though. And institutions that preserve them have varying policies on reproduction or giving permission to take additional pictures. Sometimes it is free if it is for an educational thing (dissertation for example), but almost always if it is for something commercial that will make money, the fees are quite high.
Another late comment...I don't feel up to writing everything out in its full complexity, but I'm in the process of transforming my relationship of the past several years into some sort of Carol-and-Abbey-but-still-living-together-for-now-and-potentially-with-sex radical queer friendship and it is I think going to be really good for both of us and really amazing. But just at this precise minute everything kind of hurts. Also it all kind of came to a head while I'm 2 continents away, so it is happening long-distance and there can't be any comforting cuddling for a couple months.
There are a lot of poisonous caterpillars where I am living right now. They haven't gotten me yet, but it's only a matter of time...
