Sorry to be pushy, but fundraising on the YouCaring site for helping Scottie Thomaston with medical expenses, such as a new wheel chair and a hospital type bed for home, has stalled out at $3645. There's only been one donation in the past two weeks, towards a goal of $10k.
I'm making another donation today towards his goal, and I'm asking any of you out there who can, to please do so as well. As I said when I posted about this a couple of weeks back, Scottie has done so much to further our rights as a community; it's time for us to help take care of one of our own.

As of this morning we are a little over one third to the $10,000 goal. The bulk of this was raised in the first 24 hours, and we are now 5 days in today.

Forgive me for pushing this, but it's time for us to step up an take care of one of our own. Most of you are aware that Scottie Thomaston has been ill, seriously so. He has done so much to further the needs of us as a community, and frankly, I believe it's high time for us to return that favor. I've made a donation to help raise the money needed for his care and I challenge everyone reading this to please match my efforts.
YouCaring is a crowdfunding site, but what you donate for Scottie, will go to Scottie. You get to decide what, if anything, you wish to give to YouCaring above what you wish to earmark for Scottie, to help them cover their overhead. (Note that the YouCaring site is a bit different accessed with your smartphone, than on your computer. What you choose to give to them for their overhead is much clearer when accessed on a computer)

I am grateful that Evan Wolfson thinks the fight is over. Despite having married myself in the 2008 'window' here in California, I wish I could say I agree with him. Even though SCOTUS has ruled, I am still vigilant and anxious.
While people continue to posture, while likes of Kim Davis still exists and continues to do her damnedest to deny us our rights, while Trump and Cruz are still running for office with a promise to change the make up of the Supreme Court to nullify our civil right to marry, and as long as Justice (and I use that honorific begrudgingly) Roy Moore and his ilk continue to monkey with our legal system to try and undermine the mandate of SCOTUS, I for one do not think our work is done.
Evan said to stay engaged. We need to remain vigilant and ready to continue our fight.

I have said previously, it is the Mormon church's prerogative to make it's own rulings as to what is acceptable or not, according to their own theology for people practicing that faith WITHIN that specific church. That, they have the right to do. They do not have the right to define ANYTHING for people outside their church.
The Mormon faithful then have to decide whether they will comply with those rules and remain within their church, or choose to defy them and leave. It's time for those individuals to wake up and smell the coffee. If enough of the Mormon flock leaves the church (AND STOP TITHING), it may be enough for their hierarchy to have another 'revelation' on LGBT families. As far as I'm concerned, having folks walk out of their community, will go a long way to making more LGBT Mormon kids a lot healthier mentally. Having several personal friends and acquaintances who are both LGBT and were raised Mormon, I'm extremely grateful to have been spared that combination, which says a lot, given my family's background in orthodox Judaism.
