I would say that you should do what you can to make your front lawn something you enjoy - plant some trees, some bushes, or a garden. Basically, make the front of your property something other than a sponge for a ton of fresh water. Last year there was a big design competition to see if anyone could divest people from the suburban lawn, something which has a lot to do with not having the front part of your property make you look like an eco-crazy nutjob.
