If nobody cares; why have videogame journalists been slandering their customers with horrible false accusations in a coordinate matter? Why have GG meetings, even one with that journalism ethics association, been disrupted by bombthreats? Etc.

Someone needs to edit the "welcome to the desert of the real" speech from the Matrix into the wasteland scene.

The Tree of Harmony was one of the few things in the forest that fit conventional pony understanding of the world; most of the stuff on the forest is considered "paranormal" by them ("the clouds move by themselves!"). It's possible the ToH is technology from an advanced lost civilization (it's crystal nature suggests a connection to the Crystal Empire, a sorta Equestrian analog to Atlantis; I'm still not convinced the writers didn't take heavy inspiration from the Stargate series); but to them, it is more "natural" than animals taking care of themselves and clouds that aren't controlled by pegasi.

Now back to the topic of Starlight; she might've been willing to influence the cutiemarks of everyone; but she didn't seem to believe the consequences would be as drastic as bringing out the end of the world, at least while she hadn't yet given up on her plans.

Maybe she deduced from the observations she made while spying on Twilight, plus her advanced magic knowledge?

In a world where the weather is micromanaged at a local level and in the short term, I guess it makes sense if they didn't come up with the analogy of the butterfly effect to describe the phenomenon.

Regarding Starlight's motivation to insist with her plan; what I got from what she said on the episode was she suspected what she was shown was a trick by Twilight to try to convince her to give up; but eventually she was convinced it was a bad idea.

As for how she knew stuff; something that explains it at least partially is she has been spying on Twilight for quite a while (we've seen hints she was, in the background of a few episodes of this season)

People who complain about others nitpicking while overlooking the fact those same people also praise the stuff that was done well, are the worse.

As we've seen before in many other episodes since the alicornication, ponies don't pay much attention to other ponies combo of appendages most of the time.

Maybe it's something so out of the ordinary their brain isn't used to looking for that pattern; or maybe the unification of the 3 races has been so successful that they're wing/horn blind most of the time, not giving much thought to what the races of other ponies are.

I wouldn't call it unnecessary; but they did sorta make up for some of the flaws with the good stuff.

Don't ignore the flaws, but also don't dismiss the high points; that's a good way to approach it IMO.

We hold it to higher standards because they've shown they can do it in the past.

We're picky because we care, and because we know they can do better since we've seen them do it in the past.
