So you're telling me I have to deal with Brexit AND the end of The Toast in the same week...???

I can't right now.

I ride a Pashley Princess Classic, which is unexpectedly twee for me.

The new East-West and North-South Cycle Super Highways just opened in London this week! Which means that I can now cycle virtually all the way to/from work without having to mingle with motor traffic! I take the E-W route and it follows the Embankment along the Thames and up past Big Ben, which is really nice. Plus it's really warm and sunny this week. So, suddenly, the most stressful part of my day has finally become the nicest!

You are crushed to death by a bookcase; an ironic comment on the failure of your intellectual aspirations.

I was once retweeted by Neil Gaiman. I still bring it up occasionally (weekly) to make my gentleman companion envious.

As someone who cycles to work in London*, about 10% of black cab drivers are a polite delight who will stop to chat at the red light, and the remaining 90% seem to be entitled, arrogant, dangerous-driver dicks. Though I admit that learning The Knowledge is a huge mental achievement.

*woooo new cycle superhighways!

You're quite right, thank you. (As usual, Northern Ireland lags behind on the progressivism thing, thanks a bunch DUP).

There's just so much that goes into making a big exhibition happen - literally years of planning, and multiple people having input - that very often the final product is quite far removed from the original curatorial conception. From things like not being able to secure an important artwork for loan, to having the learning/education department drastically edit the label texts (for accessibility, consistency, what have you), the curators of a show don't always have as much control over the end result as you might assume.

(but there are some really bad exhibitions out there)

I think it's going to be good. I work at Another Big Museum in London, and attend our LGBT+ committee which has pretty close links to this show and the people working on it. It's very deliberately positioned as a 50th anniversary commemoration/celebration of the 1967 decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK.
