That is a really good lesson. Although as far as curfews go, I guess it depends how old you were. My kids aren't old enough to have a curfew quite yet!

I have no idea what soft ball stage means. I least you didn't attempt to play catch with it ;)

I love that you said you are torn to divulge information like this....
I think as parents we are often times "supposed" to put on some sort of brave face for all the hiccups and unexpected things that come from raising children, some more trivial than others. The truth is, none of us really know what we're doing and we have to just go with what works for us. I love that you CAN joke about autism - the fact that you can laugh about it is a HUGE sign of how well you are able to deal on a day to day basis. Sure its tough (I used to teach with autistic kids), but if I can laugh at my kid for the goofy things we make him do and say, shouldn't you be able to laugh at yours? Thanks for sharing. We have those bandaids! Got them as a gag gift stocking stuffer :)
And that bacon lube is the most disturbing thing ever - like in Seinfeld when George confuses eating with sex... anyone else remember that episode??? He sneaks down in bed to munch on a hoagie roll. Ha ha ha
