I am also a big fan of storm cookies and hot cocoa. Thankfully, I no longer live in a snowy clime, so don't have to worry about those kinds of storms anymore and it's been a while since I've had to attend a hurricane party. Love this list, so fun.

I cut participation grades out of my course, simply because I set my classes up so that students HAVE to participate by nature of being in class.

I do penalize students for excessive lateness and the department has an attendance policy, so I have ways to mark students off who are not participating because they aren't there.

I should point out that I don't fault them for doing so (though I do wish Shawn's mom had been Latina at least esp since Dulé has referred to Psych as having two POC leads--a nod there in some way would have made me happy) because it opens up roles/opportunities to them they wouldn't have otherwise had, and I get that.
