I've had that happen. The one time, someone from our front desk had actually sent a patron down to us when I'd shut everything down. I almost lost my mind.
Ours do that too, thank god. We still get people griping at us even though the timers warn them before shutting down that they need to save their shit and log out.
It makes me miss my uni library job. We just had security kick everyone out.
We do between 2-3 but if I do the quarter til closing warning, I just tell them they have ten minutes. Ideally I want everyone out five minutes til closing just so we don't have to stand around waiting and that the circ desk can get their tills put away and shut down their computers.
I always hate having to walk around to tell patrons to leave because, at that point of the evening, my "I'm a nice person who is just here to help you" mode is rapidly disappearing. Most of the time when I go out at a quarter til to tell people to pack up, I just tell them they have 10 minutes so they (might) move quicker. Sometimes it works. Other times it's these time-wasting bastards who sit there until we shut the lights off and have to tell them we are closed. Kinda wish we had a PA system but those ones don't listen anyway.
That one hasn't been on here lately but ugh, yes. I loathe it. Particularly hate the library part because, as a librarian, I have to do a lot of shooing people out of my building when I close. It's not like we don't give warnings, but once I've got most of the lights out and you're the only asshole still in the building holding the rest of us up, you don't get to tell us to wait.

I'm not kidding when I say that I started crying reading this. It feels like I wrote it with only a few small details being different (I'm actually shorter than Gillian, for one). I know a lot of people relate to and admire Scully, but this sums up my feelings so perfectly. Thank you.
