Thanks for sharing this. I got a bad concussion playing rugby in October 2011 and a few months later, when my doctor said I had post-concussion syndrome, my thought process was something along the lines of "this sounds made up... it's probably not a big deal." It's been almost 3 years now and I still have debilitating dizzy spells if I so much as tilt my head the wrong way. From my perspective of being a huge psychology/cognitive science nerd it's interesting that symptoms change so much depending on what part of your head gets it; from my perspective of being a person I'm really glad more and more people are talking about this!

Great post! As a person pursuing a career in psychology (though not clinical), pop psych posts sometimes/often make me feel squicky, and you are much better at verbalizing the squickiness of it than I am. I second blushingflower's citation appreciation!!

Hello! My day has been slow as well. It's a rainy day in LA, which is kind of novel and exciting, but I'm a grad student with a windowless office so it doesn't really make any difference to me. I'm having office hours right now but so far only one student has come in, wanting to know if when I said he was "doing well" in the class meant that he's getting an A or an A-. Is it bad-exampley of me to tell people to stop giving so many fucks about grades? I think the best advice I got when I was in college was that I should only be doing half of my learning and experiencing via classes.
