I think it is absolutely beautiful that you took the words you WISH you'd heard and gave them to yourself. That's kind of mind-blowing, actually. I hope it felt good to write that stuff- kind of a loving letter to yourself? Great post!
Ugh, all of our kids have their "something", don't they? I agree- honesty and vulnerability is a good thing. It's comforting to share our struggles!
Nothing pleases me more than a blog post whose unifying theme is shit. For real. Way to represent the articulate, hilarious profanity-users of the blogosphere! And I'm so sorry about your super shitty week. Ugh.
I. Fucking. Hate. Mornings. You speak the truth- the hoops we jump through to educate our kids! The start of school is insanity. And I am still laughing about the neutered dog and the duck penis. You rock.
I was very superstitious as a child and had this crazy elaborate prayer I would repeat every night- my parents had NO idea! I loved this sentence: "As I grew older, I learned that the battle between good and evil isn't between angels and demons, but within the heart of every angel and demon." So true.
Sending so much love. I want to thank you for generously sharing that story- you have touched all of us who have read it, and I hope you can feel the support and caring coming your way through all of our words.
Oh my God, this was such a nice change of pace for me after my whole "way-too-serious" existential baby-making crisis post! Thanks for making me laugh, and for jumping in as co-host!
Heading over right now- thanks for sharing! This subject is really important to me as well, with two young daughters, one of whom is almost eight and has already experienced her share of mean girls. Thanks, Sandy!
That's so cool! My oldest LOVE her Lego "Friends" set- at almost 8, she is doing a slightly better job at not losing all those pieces of her special Lego sets! There's hope! ;)

Beautiful, Kerri, and you've done it again. Brought me to tears. I'm sure he will be so touched by this tribute. What a wonderful family you have.
