I just wrapped up A Tale for the Time Being, which was a pretty fast read and a good, thoughtful story. I also just read Life After Life and I am COMPLETELY at a loss about the final scene in the pub. Just... why.

After a grueling interview process a company I really wanted to work for just extended a job offer... for less than what I am making now. I tried to negotiate up but they could only give me an additional $3k (which is still less than what I'm making). I'm just really annoyed that I went through more than five interviews for them to not be competitive AT ALL. Aggggggggggggghhhhhhh

In other news I finished my log for the Twin Peaks Log Lady costume this weekend so that's nice I guess.

Michelin Stars were also published yesterday, for Chicago at least. My foodie (I hate this term but what else am I supposed to say for shorthand) friends and I endlessly debate the merits of the San Pel list, of having a list at all instead of a general goodness rating. Like is it fair to pit that shack in the last paragraph against a twenty-course $400 molecular gastronomy prix fixe?

Prudie should forward this letter to the Only-G-Movies-LW from yesterday

Ack the Chicago Trib drives me crazy with their no-reads-ever paywall. But the CUBS! The Cuuuubbbbsss. This game happened days ago and I'm still giddy (and still wearing my hat). But this leads to my favorite Cubbies/Roger Ebert quote ever:

"The more movies you see and write about, the more you know about them. Consider baseball. The ‘innocent’ crowd member sees a bunch of guys running after a little ball while wearing funny costumes. The Cubs fan sees inevitable tragedy unfolding."

But hopefully not this year :)

I skipped the beginning of the debate because of the Cubs! Chicago is on fire and I am pretty sure no one is getting any work done during day games at all.

I think the dude meant easy boob access...? Since his first comment was so breast-centric? Or maybe the side holes are real long or something ???

What do you mean, "Nope"?

Before reading the copy, I thought "sauvage" was a portmanteau of "sausage" and "vage" and I was very curious to know what that might smell like and who on earth would want to purchase it.

Nice! I'm there. How are all of us going to find each other?
