also, just wanted to add that I feel you SO HARD about the importance of getting to say no to an activity that doesn't work for you. There are a lot of things that I simply cannot do, and that's okay. When folks keep pressing me to find a way to make it work, that's a terrific red flag that these are not people I can trust.

This is such a great and important piece. Thank you so much for writing it and sharing with us!

I would love to let folks know about a camp that I had a super different experience with - I might write something about it in the future, but in the meantime, if you're looking for a camp that is run by a mixture of able-bodied and disabled folks, this is the one! It still has a lot of the gross rhetoric about "being your best self" or w/e, but most of the counselors are disabled, too, and the able-bodied people are just there to lift things in the background.
